Well to answer your question, I believe that the chicken came first because I don't think that heavenly father would want to sit on an egg So most definently the chicken.

lol.....that was funny guys! I have a question for you. What is the age for guys to go on a mission? What is the age for girls?
I think this is a good thread to start asking questions in........some questions I might know the answers to. but I think it will be very informative to some of the readers to hear the answers.

That's what I was thinking too! It's a shame that there are so many two legged monsters walking around amongst us.

Girls go two years later, so they have a chance to find love, and get married, first. The church wants to put family first, so they don't have us go on missions until we have had a bit more of a chance. It also gives the girls an opportunity to WAIT for a missionary. If they can wait for their guy, and their relationship can handle two years apart, then surely, they can handle marriage, and it is true love. We wouldn't really be waiting for them, if we were on missions, our selves!

Good point ... but half the girls i know dont even end up marrying their missonaries ... like my brothers gf who suppossedly was going to wait for him to get back is getting married next week to another guy ... but i guess it kinda depends on the person

Yeah.. I dunno.. hmm.. I dunno if you should wait for a missionary, because you never know what else is out there... you could be missing so much. Not to mention, if you still date and stuff and "your missionary" is planning on you waiting for him and something happens it could really effect his mission. My goal personally, is not to have any relationships or any girls "waiting" when I go on my mission that way if something happens I'll still be dedicated to what i'm supposed to be out there doing, instead of worrying about a girl I like

Yes I Suppose that is true. But that does seem kinda unfair.

Yes I Suppose that is true. But that does seem kinda unfair. I'm not sure if you are referring to the age difference to go on a mission or to waiting for a RM?

yeah the missionary will get over it with time, but it still effects their mission. I mean yeah it is kinda unfair.. but you've got to think about what's most important. The prophet has asked each young man to serve a full time mission. He has also asked us to raise the bar, and lengthen our stride, and we are asked to perfrom our work with soberness, which means to put your whole heart into it and all your faculties. (D&C 6:36) by having a girl waiting for you, your not entirely focused on what your out there for. So I think by being entirely focused we will be blessed more than we can imagine. Our Savior paid the ultimate price for us, he has atoned for all our sins and has been with us our whole lifes to comfort us when we need comfort and heal our sicknesses and he has done so much for us. Serving a mission like that is like paying him back, but it doesnt even come close to paying him back for what he's done for us. So we should do it the best we can to show our love and thanks to him. It's like a tithing for our lives. We were given this life and our bodies and the least we can do to pay them back is to serve a full mission with all our heart. Thats how I feel It may seem unfair, but it is what we should do. If you know what's most important, then you will do it weather its fair or not

That is an interesting thought....the mission is like a one-tenth increase (a tithe that we should all pay) and two years isn't even a one-tenth, because almost everyone lives more than twenty years.

Yes that is an interesting thought. I wonder what life would be like if we did only live twenty years.

Post by Soccerfoo on Jun 26, 2007 20:42:24 GMT -5
Haha well good news guys We're not dying at age 20 haha. But yeah that would be sad. But the point was that even going on a 2 year mission to pay him back for all he's done can't even begin cover how much we owe him, it doesnt even cover the price for each of our lives. So personally I think it's a little selfish not to go, or not to serve with your whole heart. But I don't mean to make that sound like the missionaries who do have girl friends are bad because, they aren't at all! It takes a lot to step up to the plate and give up those two years in the service of God, it's not a small task at all. And at least they went and did what they were supposed to, that still means a ton. But my point is that its not really unfair, if you think about how much we owe
