He doesn't have to like metal, you know. There are plenty of good, wholesome music genres out there.
The problem with any kind of metal (and of course other genres of music, too) is that it doesn't invite the Holy Ghost whatsoever. In fact, it keeps the Holy Ghost away. I dislike most metal because it makes me feel uncomfortable because it's impossible to have the Holy Ghost with me. That's the main problem with metal.

Michael, I concur.
I'm sorry about your brother. Does he still attend church? If so, perhaps you can get him more invovled in enjoyable, wholesome church activities! If not, you can perhaps try harder?

Just because he's not going on a mission doesn't mean he's not a good person. I really dislike how Mormons frown and sometimes even 'exile' those who don't go on missions.

I don't think anyone was saying he's a bad person because he's not going on a mission.

I kinda like the whole rebel thing....is that bad?

Post by Jayda on Feb 23, 2011 15:35:44 GMT -5
No, I don't think it's bad unless it affects how you act. I think it's kind of hot, myself, but I think I'd be too scared to reallyyyy date a rebel because it could probably easily affect me.

I'd date a rebel..not like super rebel but...sort of. I think you can have the whole 'rebel' thing and still be temple worthy though.

I don't think that. idk just me. I agree with you Michael! It's kind of funny reading how some of the girls on here like the excitement and potential danger of having a relationship with a rebel or semi-bad boy........but that has absolutely no interest for me. I'm looking for the guy that is striving to lead a righteous life and wants an eternal partner to grow and develop a righteous life with! I'm not looking for someone that's living a life that's always testing the boundaries of acceptable behavior! I know that it is possible to change some people for the better, but in the process, it is also possible that this close association can also dull or numb your moral outlook on life. Jesus's plan for us on Earth is to make right choices by following his examples so that we can return to his Heavenly Kingdom. Throughout our lives we are going to be constantly challenged with a variety of life trials! The farther that we wander from the straight and narrow path........the greater the distance and effort it will take to return again. For me the goal is simple. Hang onto the iron rail. Don't be tempted to stray off course looking for excitement and risk loosing sight of the ultimate goal .........and it's not just barely making it into Heaven in the Telestial Kingdom.......it's aiming as high as you can for the Celestial Kingdom!

Eh. I still think it's hot. Agreed. I'd love to marry someone who has the rebel thing but is still temple worthy. It's definitively possible to be both In the end if hes temple worthy and not a rebel I'm still okay with that obviously.

Haha, I agree And when we say rebellious, we don't mean like hardcore rebellion, obviously, since Liz is saying Temple-worthy. What I personally mean is he has that edgy look, he's tough... It's a little hard to explain. But obviously a Temple marriage and Temple worthy husband is what I'm aiming for. It's what I've worked for all my life. But rebellious guys are way hot

exactly. And, a little bit sarcastic. Not a TON but just enough. I think this guy- www.facebook.com/?sk=messages#!/photo.php?fbid=201315230076&set=a.201313290076.272423.633920076&theater basically sums it up. He used to go to my ward. Super nice, a bit sarcastic, rebelish and temple worthy.

One of the young men leaders at my ward has long black hair... i don't think that's really bad. The piercings would worry me though. i know you'll keep being a good example for him though

I really don't like the whole rebel thing.. if a girl in the church has multi- piercings and doesn't wear modest clothes, then I wouldn't think it is hot, I would think the girls with the modest clothes etc are the ones I would like to get to know and who are worthy in my mind, idk it just me.
The whole rebel thing with my brother or w/e you want to call it is bad in my mind He get mad cuz we're going to read scriptures, he sleeps in sacrament EVERY week, he use the "That what she said" line, and it's soo dumb, we talked about it in sunday school and in some cases it's as bad as cussing.
From the For the Strength of Youth: How you speak says much about who you are. Clean and intelligent language is evidence of a bright and wholesome mind. Use language that uplifts, encourages, and compliments others. Do not insult others or put them down, even in joking. Speak kindly and positively about others so you can fulfill the Lord’s commandment to love one another. When you use good language, you invite the Spirit to be with you
Profane, vulgar, or crude language or gestures, as well as jokes about immoral actions, are offensive to the Lord and to others. Foul language harms your spirit and degrades you-
Says it right there people. My brother joke around that I'm gay etc, which I'm not. he says "That what she said" which is goes along with " or crude language"
When his mad he calls everyone idiots, he told my dad and mom to shut up many times
Once when he was really mad at one time I heard him yelled "F-ing Jesus" I forgot what made him mad, I think something about going to a ward party that he didn't want to go to and parents were gone so older sister made him go (which parents would of done anyways)
When he was youth age he barely went to youth group etc I'll be quiet now. Sorry for getting mad about it but I just really hate it.
