Well, I wasn't sure if this should go in the opinions or current events thread, so I just went with one This is an email I sent out to all of my friends sometime middle of last year. The bill has changed somewhat, I'm sure, but the basics, as far as I know, are still the same. If you guys have some questions about this stuff feel free to ask! I love talking about politics

I'm pretty sure that the links are still all good. If they aren't, please let me know!

There are two things that I want to talk about in this email, so I'll try to keep it as organized as possible. Please forgive the length. It really isn't as long as it appears - I just ended up using small paragraphs. Please read!
Now, I'm sure that many of you have heard about Obama's Healthcare Plan. I'm sure that people have tried to make it seem like a fantastic idea, right? Wrong.
There are three main things (among other reasons to be against it) that you need to know about:
1) On page 16 it says that this healthcare is not optional (though they say it is and that you can keep your private insurance)
2) It FULLY funds abortions, even though 71% of Americans are against abortion in some way.
3) Everyone that is chronically ill (so take my mom, my sister, and myself for instance) and all who are 59+ years of age will have to attend a MANDATORY class every five years called "Dying with Dignity" where you will be reminded what a burden you are on society. I don't want to have to go through that.
Sounds pretty bad, huh? That's only the tip of the iceberg, sadly. But those are some key points to be against it.
Here's a petition against socialized healthcare:

Now, onto other matters.
Recently ACORN (stands for "Association of Community Organizations and Reform Now", which I would sum up for you, but they're far too complex to even know where to begin - go down to the bottom of the page for correct information on ACORN), had a rally on the sidewalks supporting Obama's Socialized Healthcare plan.
During this rally two anti-healthcare plan conservatives started to film and went up to just speak civilly about the healthcare plan, to try and discuss it and have a very normal, quiet conversation. All throughout this a policeman was continually trying to tell the two conservative women that they couldn't stand on the public sidewalk with the ACORN members (it's a public sidewalk, remember) and that they weren't allowed to speak to them... They were taking away the women's freedom of speech. Want proof?

This is only the beginning of our freedoms fading away. Democrats are also turning to our talk radio shows, which seems to be one of the very few ways nowadays to speak our minds, and are trying to shut them down. That would be removing our freedoms in just another way.

"March to Socialism
Is Washington looking to increase their control of the airwaves? Author and radio programming executive Brian Jennings says yes. He appeared on the show to talk about his book Censorship: The Threat to Silence Talk Radio, where he outlines both the overt and hidden ways politicians are looking to regulate free speech. The Broadcaster Freedom Act would be a step in the right direction, but it might not be enough."

I hope you all sign the petitions, and take this seriously. Our freedom of speech is slowly disappearing and America as we had known it will only disappear even more if we turn to socialized healthcare. This healthcare is not free - nationally, it puts us a trillion dollars more into debt and the taxpayers of America will feel its burden. Feel free to email me back with questions, but PLEASE forward this to everyone you know! We need to be heard.
