I've never had much of an acne problem. I buy the cheap generic brand of acne pads with 2% salicylic acid to clear up the occasional pimple. Now if I had a severe acne problem.......I'd probably start with a generic version of *Proactiv or something that would help to keep it in check. One caution that I'd like to mention is: don't routinely use your hands to pop blackheads (pimples), is because you will be spreading the bacteria all over your face and you might also damage your skin and cause scarring!

I can't use salicylic acid - I'm allergic :/ So I use benzoal peroxide, but even that has been stinging on my face recently. Luckily, my acne problems aren't too severe now that I'm older and such, but regardless, acne can still be embarrassing, no matter how many or few you have!
There are multiple kinds of pimples. I only ever recommend popping the whiteheads, and when you do, if it scabs DON'T pick at the scab! I made that mistake a couple of times. I have a couple of small scars on my cheeks because of it. Blackheads don't usually go away on their own, but you should use a needle to pop those. It's really difficult (unless you have fingernails) to pop them otherwise. If you have just the red kind, don't bother. It'll only scar.
I've found that AcneFree works really well for me and Proactiv doesn't really work that great. One of the things that I like the most with Proactiv, however (which I used for about two or three years before giving up on it) is the mask that you get automatically with the kit. You can buy it separately, as well. It dries up pimples really fast (dab it on those specific areas at night, leave it on, and wash it off in the morning and the pimple has shrunk!) and its gentle on even my skin.
I've used all sorts of different acne solutions (Proactive, Clinique, Clean and Clear, AcneFree, etc) and none work really well, but I think my skin is just picky xD Haha.

I've never really had acne problems. I've maybe had two spots at once and that was about the worse. I take the preventive way instead of the treatment way. Wash your face every night. Take a medium sized towel, wet it down just a bit, squirt some Clearasil in it, and rub it together to make kind of soapy liquid. Whenever I had problems I would just do that and in maybe 5 days it was gone. BUT I SECOND WHAT JAYDA SAID ABOUT NOT PICKING AT THE SCABS. I used to love to pick at scabs when I was younger and I still have a couple of spots/scars on my chin as punishment.

And to think I just use Nivea Visage scrub every day And yeah no popping but if one has to then it's better to wash your hands before and after. Ok it feels so weird having an acne thread. Oh and if you use a toner and scrub then remember to always put on mosturiser afterwards because it defeats the point if out don't! I always thought the acne product ads were funny.Especially the Oxecute ones.

This is something to prevent acne, to some extent, and also to make it go away. I don't know how good it works. >_> I've never had an acne problem. XD Anyways, my friend who I recommended it to says it works WONDERS! (Or at least feels like it) Basically, once or twice a day, wash your face. Scrub it with a rag. Stuff like that. Anyways, if you already do that, CONGRATS! But if you're like me, and haven't learned to do stuff that way, then try it. It might help.

I don't have a acne problem. my brother does.. but I don't think I will get it. Same here, dude! *highfives* that's AWESOME! ... >_> About the niether of us having acne thing. Not the his brother having acne thing... EDIT: My mom told me that when she was in college, she had a roomate named Mary Maria (or something like that) and she had absoloutley AMAZING skin. Apparently, she didn't do ANYTHING to her skin. She didn't touch her face most of the time, and only cleaned it about once a week in the shower. Otherwise, it got zits. That probably goes for us as well.

I got the idea after reading JT's post on your homepage and I thought that other people might benefit from the advice, but I didn't want to hijack your thread! lol Its fine like that. The biggest problem I have with acne is that its all hormones with me so the face washes wont work with me, I eventuall had to be put on acutane and it works wonders. It cuts off the hormones that cause acne and prevents them from coming back, your on it for six months and then your off of it forever unless you get another breakout then your back on it for another six months. It cost us ten dollars a month with our insurance and Im on my last month now. The only bad thing is that you usually have a really bad flareup in the first month and you have dry skin and chapped lips while your taking it. It has been know to cause depression but its really rare. They only give it to people who have it really bad or theyre resistant to other medicines, like me, But my dermotoligist said that hes never had a failed case with it and hes been using it for about 10 years I think. Also avoid touching your skin, dont wash to much, and never ever ever pop a pimple I dont care how bad it is, Its the poping that causes the scars not the scabs afterwards

But I'm taking other stuff that kind of help with it so my acne hasn't been too bad lately, so I probably couldn't, anyway Well, there are some zits that you HAVE to pop, otherwise they'd get infected. The whiteheads are the ones you need to pop. But only pop once, then put medicine on it. Otherwise you will scar, unfortunately x.x I wish I hadn't picked at my skin when I was younger!

Yeah, generally only pick at them once. Otherwise they'll probably scar. I know this from experience -sigh-

My skin usually hides white heads so I dont notices them but I forgot to mention that acutane also works to get rid of blackheads and white heads on some people as well
