Every single year, something goes wrong at our stake girls camp. Actually, bad stuff happens to my little town in general all the time. One year we had a girl fall down the mountain and had to be life-flighted out. I never thought it would ever get worse than that. Today, 4 YCLs and their leader from one of the wards in our stake was on their way up to girls camp. One of the tires on their car popped and they rolled. They were only about 20 miles out of town. Two of the girls died on the scene, one is in life saving brain surgery, and the leader and the youngest of the girls are in the hospital and they are going to be all right. I've lived in this small town my whole life, I grew up knowing these girls. I don't know the ones that died very well, but well enough. I feel so blessed that it wasn't my ward, or girls I knew better. But anyway, the surviving girls and the families of those that died really need your prayers.

I'm so sorry that this tragedy happened. I will certainly put these girls and their families in my prayers! Thanks , Amanda for informing us about this tragedy. I for one was not aware of it, but now that I know about it.........I can add my prayers to help ask Our Heaven Father to provide strength and comfort to everyone involved.

Our stake felt we should still go to camp, so we just got back today. The girl that had to have surgery is on her way to recovery. The funerals of the other two are tomorrow. At camp, our stake president told us that our area authority had told him that the first presidency of the church is aware of the accident and send their love, which I thought was pretty awesome. Thanks for your prayers guys.

Nice Alyse, way to do your homework haha! The funeral was very nice. Heather's brother and Lysha's grandpa gave the eulogies. Its gonna take a while for our valley to bounce back from this, but we've got the comfort of the plan of salvation and the gospel. Its kinda weird, because Heather was in my seminary class, and just about 2 weeks ago she gave a beautiful devotional on life after death and how much she misses her dad (who passed away about 7 years ago). We also talked a lot about death and the Second Coming and everything in seminary, so its really weird to think that she's now experiencing the stuff that we had great discussions about in seminary right now.

It is a very sad situation all around, but it also is a reminder to us that there is no certainty in the amount of time that we have on Earth to prepare to meet Our Heavenly Father.......so it is best to live each day as if the Lord will be taking an accounting of our actions up to that point.......for there may not be a tomorrow to set things right. I feel sure that these girls have the comfort of Our Heavenly Father right now, so I'm praying that the friends and family that they left behind will be able to receive the comfort and strength to continue on!

That's tragic and somewhat joyful based off what you said. Sort of like an early reunion. The death of any person like that is tragic, but at least they're enjoying themselves across the curtain.

Yeah its quite sad, especially in such a tight-knit community, but we all understand that they had more important work on the other side. It's really weird to think that they're gone. Alyse, was it pretty big news up in Utah? Or did you just hear about it from me and share it with your leaders?
