What do you all think about Nudism? Make sure to think about how culture and society has influenced us before you respond
I recently heard about a group of LDS who are nudists...I found quite interesting and have been doing some research.

O.O
Well... I think its utterly pointless... Its all about the beauty of the human body apparently. I personally think its another ploy to try and justify sexual relationships outside of marrage...

hm, I think it depends on the person if its a ploy. Society has raised us to see naked as a sexual thing even though, it shouldn't be. I think sometimes people do use it wrongly. And sometimes others just like being nude in their back yard. like, not to sound wierd..but everything's more fun when you feel rebellious. Ever gone skinny dipping? And that excitement of perhaps getting caught?

Ive done enough rebellious crap as is. I have my own reasons for not liking it, mainly it being a gateway to other things.

Haha I noticed that there is a group on LDS.net called the Skinny Dippers, but I haven't had a chance to really check it out. I'm with Jayda at the present. I need more time to think about this. For me personally though.......I could not be a nudist!

You are right that society has raised us to see people being naked as a sexual thing. That's why people in Europe will view the Statue of David in fascination while people in my high school will giggle when they see it.
That said, I don't see anything good about being nude in public, member or not. Even if nudism is unaccepted in just our society, we are representatives of the church in our society. We have enough rumors going around about the church, I wouldn't want nudism to be the subject of another. People could twist that to spread some real bizarre rumors about a church that's trying to blossom.
I don't know, if a husband and wife want to be nudists in their own house, I guess I don't have a problem with that. Same with skinny-dipping if everyone remotely close is the same gender. But anything more public than that and I think there are problems.

I have a friend who always walks around her house naked...it doesn't bother me anymore but I still think it's a little weird. she says her whole family does it but I haven't seen that... which is good. I don't think it's wrong to see people of the same gender naked.. like I've gone swimming topless with friends... even Mormon friends, all girls. good to get a tan i couldn't imagine seeing my family naked... eww.. but I don't think it's like wrong... But nudism with other people... that's really weird... I don't know

This topic reminds me of Adam and Eve. After they ate the fruit, they saw that they were naked and made aprons of leaves. God came and asked who told them they were naked. Because they had the knowledge of good and and evil, they made them.
This tells me that, in general, to stay clothed unless it's for bathing or marriage activity. After all, if they were the only humans, and after realizing what they were, they even clothed themselves, then it would make sense for us. That is my interpretation, that's what I understand. Either way, if I walked in on my teenage children nude, me or them, I would feel like pedobear.
I am just curious, did anyone blush when they read this?

I am not trying to say it's embarrassing or not. I guess I should say that because of the topic, and more or less the words said, I find it difficult to, uhm, "keep thoughts in order". It's no ones fault, but bad associations, based on bad foundations can cause unappealing thoughts. Does that make sense? Sorry if it doesn't.
Thanks for understanding.

No, it's fine. It's not your fault. I don't want to say I am thinking bad thoughts. In my head, associations of certain terms I believe just provide potential. Perhaps a pm would be more definitive of what I mean, it wouldn't make too much sense on what I say here. Pm me if your interested.
Thanks for understanding.

I actually didn't blush at all when I read this. I thought it was slightly odd, but I'm very open about stuff, too.
I'm with Eric, I think. I don't really know about my opinion of this subject since I've never really thought about it, but he has excellent points.
I definitely couldn't be a nudist, though. I can only imagine how awkward I would feel without them!

I still read the boards! just quiet I had to post in this because of my friend though... she walked around naked when I slept over in the summer and I couldn't believe it since her family's Mormon. but when I thought about it i don't think it's really a big deal... since it was only her family and another girl (me). what do you think??

I'm okay with it. I understand some may see it as a sexual thing and go to things like nudist beaches just to see naked people. At this time I wouldn't mind walking around naked in front of friends and family however it would make my family uncomfortable. As for my friends were doing a party/sleepover soon and were all pretty open and were doing skinny dipping in my friends hot tub After the guys leave that is

Yeah, I definitely get that. I think it's a matter of feeling comfortable with the people around you. I mean, I change around other girls and I've taken showers with a couple of my friends (mostly because we were all freezing and we didn't want to have to wait turns to get in the shower) so I think it depends on how comfortable you are. I personally am not comfortable being nude around any of my family, except maybe my best friend/cousin. But even around my mom it's uncomfortable for me. But with my friends it's kind of different, although I don't know why Haha.
