up until about three weeks ago i had no real testimony...i was considering letting go of the church and looking at other ones... then i went to the most amazing seminary kick off the talks were so awesome and so spiritual...then all of us youth did a musical number that seemed so UN-real...it was so beautiful no one hit a wrong note and it was just perfect it may seem weird or un believable but that is how i gained my own testimony and became a true member of the church...

That's amazing! I'm not really sure if I even have my own testimony, it's kind of confusing... I can share my testimony but at times I do question about prayer... sometimes I don't even pray My testimony is growing, EFY helped a lot for it Thanks really good that you found your own

If I may, I'd like to add that praying helps a lot I used to have a big problem with praying in the morning and at night, and I'll be the first to admit that when I'm about to eat I sometimes forget to pray, but it really does help. It helps our loving Father in Heaven know that we recognize Him in our daily lives and helps show Him that we want to work harder to become better, and that we want a testimony and that we're willing to try His "way". His way is the only way, and that includes prayer. But we all struggle. Earlier this year was when I got back into the habit of praying. I've noticed that it helps me plenty. I feel guilty if I fall asleep before I pray, or if I just don't feel like taking the time to pray in the morning... Because, as selfish of a reason as it might seem, I begin to think of all of the blessings I'm missing out on that day for not saying my morning prayers. Also, praying just randomly throughout the day (such as "Heavenly Father, please help me pass this test") can help you feel better about certain situations. With my current family situation I tend to do that a lot. The scriptures say to always have a prayer in your heart. That can be difficult to even remember. But during Youth Conference one of the lessons taught by a youth was about prayer and he said that at one point in his life he actually challenged himself to thank Heavenly Father multiple times throughout the day. Just little things like "Thank you Heaevnly Father for not having me trip over that twig" or something. They mean a lot, and can build blessings and testimony And the blessings really are incredible. With that being said, don't expect immediate results. Some receive answers to prayers immediately (I have before) and some take a while (I've dealt with that too). You cannot feel like you deserve an answer immediately. If you don't, continue to pray. Continue to do what you're supposed to be doing. In the long run you will be blessed for your efforts. Praying through trials, even if you don't receive immediate answers, will help build your testimony. I have my own testimony of that. I think that's so great how you gained a testimony, ldsgirl (sorry, I don't know your name...). That's such a great example of how you can gain your own testimony, especially at a time when you need it Sorry for going on and on! I've just gained a really strong testimony of prayer over the past couple of months.
