So, a day or two ago (I can't remember when exactly?) Arizona governor passed a law that makes it illegal... to be illegal. How dare she, right?
Basically, she created a state law that makes it illegal to be in America illegally and the uproar is huge. She just passed a state law that is almost exactly like the federal law about illegal residency and immigration that the feds aren't enforcing. Why is everyone freaking out?
A lot of people are calling it racial discrimination, which it's not. Anyone can be pulled over. It's not a violation of your civil rights or against the law to ask for your papers - it's just like being asked for your driver's license.
So, opinions?

About time, really. Like I don't think it will make that much of a difference, but it's good to see that some action is being taken.
There is a process that isn't overly difficult to become a citizen. I realize there are quotas and such but Mexicans who have crossed the border shouldn't be angry if they sneak over here without legal means and get caught. They can call the government racists all they want, because the government can call them "cheaters" (for sneaking into a prosperous country without any requirements) or a number of other names if they like.
Yeah. I understand the situations many Mexicans come from, but they should have the same drive and desperation to work at becoming a citizen.

I think that this should have been done thirty or forty years ago! Then it wouldn't be the problem that it is today. There are legal ways to enter this country......when people enter illegally, it is a threat to our security, it puts a strain on local services, it encourages evil people to take advantage of the illegals through blackmail, intimidation and abuse.

well part of the problem is that they dont realize how easy it is to legally enter the US, most just waant to work and earn money then go back to Mexico

I totally agree - it should've been taken care of a LONG time ago. Actually the feds should just be enforcing the national laws that are in place, anyway. The government has a national almost JUST like this and Arizona just decided to take a step to make it happen on their own!
Mexico's government is totally corrupted and the violence there is ridiculous, but if they want to come to a better place then they really need to work on becoming a legal citizen!

Actually, it's not all that easy to enter legally. It's a long, expensive, taxing process. But the benefits should be worth it. I personally think that the legal process of becoming a citizen should be MUCH easier. But yes, they can definitely do that if they become American Haha.

No, it isn't actually :/ It's harder to STAY here if you come through illegally, but it's harder to get here legally then it is to get here illegally. Thus why we have a problem on our hands.

I wouldnt think so, you have to pay about 10000$, get smuggled over which usually involves a boat landing in the middle of night on rocky shore line or traveling over the desert. Then if you couldnt pay the money you have to work in a sweat shop to pay off your debt, after that you have to hide in the states without getting caught. I would rather get papers, but either way most of the people protesting the bill are Mexican, does anyone else see a trend?

Not necessarily. There are people that get in on their own, and I've only ever heard of them using a boat when they don't live in Mexico, unless they're going to places along the Gulf. It takes a lot longer, a lot more work and studying, and more money to get in legally.
Yeah, that's something that aggravates me, how pretty much all of them are Hispanic. They think we're being racist but we aren't.

Yeah. He's great He's so ridiculously smart and he pretty much predicts all of the bad things that'll happen. Oh, I thought you were talking about McCain vs. Obama? I would've chosen McCain xD Haha. Even though... eh... neither were great at all. At least Palin would've been in! Whoo!

All the candidates I was comfortable with dropped out early.
I can honestly say I had a little bit of bias for Mitt Romney with him being Mormon and all, but from what my dad explained about his policies he was proposing and his plan of action, I think I would have felt more secure with him than say McCain. And he has quite the history of actually living up to what he says he'll do.
The guy I would have chosen next would be Guilliani (sp?). Running the country is different than running NYC but he just seems so composed and straight forward, just somebody who gets things done and gets them done in a way everyone can agree with. And he did a lot of good things for NYC.
If either of those were to change to a Democrat and keep their policies (which I don't really see how it'd be possible but go with me) I could vote with a smile on my face.
If this upcoming election is what I think it's going to be, let's just say I'm glad I'll be getting out of the country for at least two years... Clinton...McCain...Palin (I'm sorry if you like her but I will move to Canada if Palin is elected)...bleeeehhhh...

Okay, how can you like Romney and not Palin? xD Seriously?
I liked Romney during the Presidential elections and I was hoping that he would run for President with Palin as VP, so I was sad when he lost. HOWEVER, now I'm so glad that he lost. He's a freaking socialist! Look at Massachussettes! He gave them government healthcare! He denies that it's like ObamaCare, but everyone who's looked at both bills say that ObamaCare is just RomneyCare 2.0. He's closer to the left then he is to the right, that's for sure, even if he is LDS, which ISN'T good. His healthcare screwed Mass. up, too. I feel bad for them :/ So, just because a politician is LDS it definitely does NOT mean that they're any good at all! Think of Harry Reid. He's LDS but he's sooo far on the left, it's insane!
I don't really think, now that I look back, that any of the candidates were good choices. I'm not sure, because I don't remember many of them, but both sides, the right AND the left are totally corrupt and screwed up. That's why I'm not a republican or a liberal - they're both horribly screwed up.

I'll admit I never really have looked further than what Romney compaigned with, nor really paid attention to the McCain-Palin campaign (like I said, my marbles were on Romney/Guilliani ). The main reason Palin makes me nervous is because she is drawn to the spotlight. As soon as the campaign was over, she was the next Lindsay Lohan/ Angelina Jolie. Not that she was a big movie star, but she was all over magazines, all over TV, all over the media. It's an act, to me. I want a President who worries about politics and bettering the country, not about making the decision that will land her in history books and on the next People magazine. I know it's not the greatest reason but that's why I'm uneasy with Palin.
