Hockeydude's post moved from Little Things thread!
It hasn't really sunk in so I'm doing alright right now, which is why I'm posting this here. But it'll probably hit a bit later.
My friend committed suicide last night. I've heard different versions regarding whether drugs were involved or not but in the end he hung himself. So it's going to be a down week for me.

Hockeydude's reply moved:
I'm really feeling pretty alright now.
This friend's wake was on Monday, and after a lot of laughing (they had two hours set aside to talk about our favorite memories with him, which were mostly funny) they asked to close the reminiscing time. Right before the mom went out to the lobby, she went up and held her son in her arms and kissed his forehead.
At this moment me and my friends who made up his "inner circle" just began to break down. None of us had shed a tear the whole time (meaning since the actual suicide) despite heart ache but after that we huddled up and just cried hard for like 20 minutes. Somewhere in there I accepted what had happened, and ever since I stopped crying I've actually been happy. I'm really happy that whatever was bothering him is gone, and even if the whole suicide thing might have a scratch on his record I think he's a smart enough kid where he'll come to accept the gospel before the Second Coming.

I will be praying for Hockeydude's friend that committed suicide. I will also be praying for his family and friends. I will ask our Heavenly father to give them strength, understanding and acceptance of what has happened!
All human life is precious. I can't begin to comprehend what events led this young man to end his own life like this. I would like to ask Our Heavenly Father to help all of us to better understand the vital roles that we can play in helping others to avoid this tragic path. Let each one of us be a beacon of light that can help to lead a troubled person from the darkest depths of despair!

D:> OH MY GOSH THATS HORRIFIC!!! I'm so sorry!! I suppose it doesn't help that I heard somewhere that if you do suicide, you go to Outer Darkness.... Well, Jenni, I'm adding that to my signature. 'Let eacho ne of us be a beacon of light that can help to lead a troubled person from the darkest depths of despair!' >_> *pokes* You know you're really nice, giving, and awesome, right? (Jenni. Well, everyone else is too, XP But Jenni is particularly.) I used to roleplay on a website a LONG time ago, and one of my best friends faked suicide. DX I was crying for SO long. And my brother still makes fun of me for it, but he's pretty much always been a dork. (*remembers DC 64, Forgive evermore*) But oh well, I forgive him for that. Anyways, apparently he was laughing at our replies. I talked to him about it later, and then I helped him TONS with bottled-up emotions and his addiction to porn. He was a troubled kid, but he's doing lots better now.... I think. He lives somewhere in New Brunswick, Canada, and that's on the East Coast... soo yeaaahh... I haven't been able to talk to him ever since, because I don't think he has a email, facebook, etc., and I don't see him on the internet anymore, so it's kind of like he died. I just thought I should post that...

I hope that you brother is doing better and gets in contact with his family!

Hey, it's been a while since I've been able to visit Mormon Teen World. There's a lot of change going on around here and it's keeping me very busy.
I mourn your loss, Eric. When something this tragic happens to a close friend, it's hard to see past the present situation to consider the best way to move on. In the case of your friend though, because of the way his family chose to remember him, he will positively affect the lives of his loved ones from beyond the veil. Surely he will be blessed for that.
Andrew, from what I've read on the subject, suicide is definitely a sin, yet it is not "unpardonable" so I'm certain that one is not cast out of God's Kingdom because of it. Even murder, which is the "unforgivable" sin [D&C 42:18-19] does not condemn someone to OD, unless they also commit the "unpardonable" sin...
Who will go to Outer Darkness? It is the exile for those who have denied the Holy Ghost after having an undeniable witness. The 1/3 of the host of heaven who rejected Christ's plan resides in OD. The people who die in their sins and refuse to repent of them even though they have a knowledge of God will also be cast out.
