Okay, so I'm looking for people to read and review my WriYe (Writing Year) story for me! You don't have to critique if you don't want/don't have the time, that sort of thing. But letting me know if you like it and if there's anything I need to change/add/etc will be helpful during the editing process! So far, only my prologue is edited, but only once through. The rest isn't really edited. I've already gotten some critiques (I think I overuse adverbs a lot in chapter one) and I have other people that are wiling to actually CRITIQUE it, so you don't have to worry about that if you don't want to. These chapters are rather long (4-5k words each), so only do it when/if you have the time I'll have the next chapter posted as soon as I write it. If you have an account on goodreads, would you guys please like and/or comment on it? The more reviews on the actual story, the better, in my opinion Haha. Okay, I'll stop talking now! I'm just procrastinating! Please let me know what you think! I want honest opinions! www.goodreads.com/story/show/56515.RebelOh, and here's the summary: The year is 2084. Demons roam the earth, taking over human lives, destroying them, and using them. Few of the humans left alive are willing to fight back against the creatures that now reign. But there is one group that does. They’re called the rebels.
Sarai Jefferson grew up most of her life without a mother, but with a loving father. As the world grew worse day-by-day he tried to keep the bad hidden from her. But soon enough he realized that he would no longer be around and she would need to know how to protect herself. With this in mind, he taught her all about the creatures that thrive in the dark and how to protect herself from them.
Then the world truly became unrecognizable and Sarai was left to stand alone. However, she found soon enough that she had four friends willing to aid her in her cause: to destroy the demons and take back what was left of the earth.

Yeah, it is. But all of these chapters are ending up 10-14 pages (1.5 spacing) each! Its exciting, because usually I don't write such long chapters! I'm not sure how many pages. I hope over 200, at least. I want to aim to reach over 100,000 words by the end. My record is 101,000 words, so hopefully I can beat it! And considering that my goal for the year is 608,445 words this year, it would be extremely nice to write at least one book that's 100k Haha.

Yeah, I get it. Do you use single spacing or 1.5 spacing or double spacing? I use 1.5 because it seems more like what is used in published books. I've written six If I finish this one it'll be my seventh, and I'm working on the last book in my series, so that will be my eighth! Hopefully I can write three or four books this year. Usually I write three books a year, though.

I'm self-published, but I don't think I'm going to continue down that road. It'll just be wayyyy too much work for me, considering how much effort you have to put into it with advertising, and book signings, and arranging where you sell your books, etc.
It depends. Obviously any publisher is going to need to take some money out of your royalties for the printing costs. But if you're published by a publishing house they usually give you a check at the beginning based on what they think the book will sell for. Then you also have to pay the publishing house, publisher, editor, and agent, etc.

They automatically take it out of the money received from the buyer. I'm not sure. It depends on everything. Different things cost different prices. You should only worry about that when you get to that point, because you'll actually have the money.

I'll take a look before long. It's crunch time right now for me in school so I can't promise you anytime soon, but once the load eases a bit I'll take a look. I used to be a writer. I finished one that was 287 pages when formatted to fit a general book size. That one was sort of my first project though, so the first 100 pages or so are horrible. I keep it solely for nostalgic reasons. But since then I've had two other "projects" I've hit writer's block on. Probably should've planned them out before I started writing. One was 43 full pages on word and another was 36. So I have a bit of experience. Also, with the publishing. While I don't have experience with that I do have experience with contacting and arranging agreements with sponsors. I have three now (my coach kind of pulled the ropes for two of them, but I got the last one by myself ) so if you need any advice with how to contact them maybe some of my sponsorship experience with overlap!

Okay, no problem! Take your time. I totally understand a busy schedule Oh, that's so cool! My first book, Howl, was formatted to general book size (as in margins and such) and it ended up being about 520 pages long! I was SO excited when I figured that out! Oh man, I HATE writer's block! The worst block I've had last for about 6 months, on and off. It was HORRIBLE. I usually plot out my books entirely, but Rebel just seems so impossible to plot out, so I'm just writing it how I feel it should be written. It's a really weird and strange experience xD Haha. Ooh, cool! I'll definitely keep that in mind

Hi Jayda! I enjoyed reading your first chapter on Goodreads. I'm the Jenni with the Nacy Drew avatar. I'll read the next two chapters and leave a comment on them over there too!

Oh, I was going to add that Erin on here gave me the name Sayari which kind of reminds me of your Sarai. Another similarity is kind of a twist where Sarai was raised by her father because her mother died.......and I've been raised more by my mother because my father died at a young age, but it was in real life though!

Oh, that's good to hear! I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Ah, that's cool how you find those similarities! I love looking for those in books. I'm sorry about your dad, though!

When my dad first died it was like my world had ended, but over time it has gotten easier to accept it. I know he is in Heaven now and someday we will all be a family again when the Lord calls us home!

That's good. I love it when hard things become easier to deal with. Even if I can't relate in that way, I can imagine, and I can definitely understand
