This is what happens when I have to much free time. I decided to google some things about the number 666 and what Ive found makes sense to me, I'm not an expert but I can give the basics.
As we all know The book of revelations is full of symbolism, the dragon with seven heads, the anti Christ, and most notably the number 666, the mark of the beast. Modern Prophets have not provided any modern revelation and I used to assume that was because we weren't ready to know what it meant, Now I found out the answer has been here all along but it has been buried in a ton of myths and superstitions. The people of Babylon worshipped 37 gods, the most powerful being the god associated with the Sun. The other lesser gods were based on the moon, stars and visible planets. Believing that certain numbers had power over the gods, they assigned a number to each god, from 1 to 36. What do you get when you add the numbers 1 to 36 (1+2+3+36), why 666 of course! Therefore each lesser god received his number, from 1 to 36, and the god associated with the Sun was given 666. The people of Babylon not only worshipped these gods, but also feared them. Because of this fear, the people crafted amulets that were believed to protect them from the wrath of the gods. On these amulets they created a 6x6 matrix and placed the numbers 1 through 36 within the matrix in such a way that each row would add up to 111, which meant when you added the 6 rows (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) you were left with 666.
This is my own opinion and I wouldn't go telling your friends this is what the number means because I got this off of google.
