Every year starting around Thanksgiving time and lasting past Christmas time......I think about the cut Christmas trees leaning up against a store wall. Now that they are cut......they won't have long to live. Will they all find happy homes to go to? Will the family not only decorate it, but care for it with plenty of water so that it won't dry out too soon? Will they throw the tree out right after the presents are opened on Christmas day? Or will they wait until after the New Year? What about the trees that don't sell? Some are given away for free on Christmas eve, but a few never find a home for Christmas. How sad that they were cut for nothing! Some cities have a free disposal site to take the trees after the holidays and the Boy Scouts take them for aquatic habitat in the lakes. We usually get a small tree that has roots so that we can plant it after the holidays! You can use this thread to share your own thoughts on something or to comment on others thoughts. I hope that we can get some interesting posts!

Haha! School paper always has a "What's Tommy Thinking About Today?" article. Last time, the quote was:
"I wonder what year it is in China."
I'll add my own too, this was kind of a cool thought conversation I had with myself when I was driving home. So, I can't remember what this problem was, but I kept telling myself I couldn't do it. The thought just stuck there. "You can't do it, you're nuts." A lot of personal stories I don't mind sharing coming out lol.
I told myself: "Hah, just like that tubby seventh grader who always placed in the middle of the crowd while he was always wanting to be the kid in front who didn't worried about what he weighed. Hah, I thought I could run every day, hah."
But wait, I did do that! By eigth grade the same kid ran the mile in under six minutes, rarely missing the fastest kid in the grade, and had lowered his body composition by 14%. (which resulted at a 17%, which is right in the A-ok range)
But what about the kid who told himself he could put in contacts after having to give up at the training session three times. Hah, if you couldn't put them in three times, the fourth time won't work.
But wait, I did put my contacts in that fourth time! And I've continued to wear them since that day!
And what about the kid who thought he could make Varsity his sophomore year? With the amount of kids his age at the Elite level and number of upper-classmen, there's no way any amount of work would change anything.
But wait, I did make Varsity this year! And I'm being played very often!
Moral of this, whole, conversation-thing I had with myself is, NEVER limit yourself even when you think that there's just no way to reach your goal. With enough work, anything really is possible.

Trees can think now? My thought. That's an interesting idea Rickus. I doubt that they have the ability to think in the way that humans do, but it maybe possible for them to feel pain. Have you ever noticed how a plant near a window will turn its leaves to face the sun? I've read that some experiments have been done where plants were talked too and exposed to soothing music ..........some claim that this helped the plants do better. I personality don't know the answer to this, but it would make for an interesting experiment!

Everyday I read about all of the violent acts that one person might inflict upon another. This has led me to question the natural goodness in people.
Are people basically born selfish and mean? Do they have to learn the importance of caring and sharing with others? Is there a critical development time in ones life that these concepts must be presented to the person....or they will have limited success with them later in life.

Your not born mean. There's a song by someone..I forget who but it said you have to be taught to hate the people your parents hate.Your taught and you learn through others.
Here's a thought....
Why is it you think of a really great idea and when you finally get to tell someone...you forget....

Some people you really can't completely blame. Sometimes it's the environment or the home they were raised, and that's all they know what to do. If kindness in their home is absent, it's really actually something you have to learn, if you can even realize that there's a difference. Other people don't have an excuse. Their being mean is either out of desperation for attention, greed, bitterness, impatience, the list goes on. I'd recommend to those people to catch more sleep, or just set a goal not to be mean. My linemate in hockey has quite the temper, really. Like, if you're not moving and you're in his way, sometimes he'll just shove you over and keep walking by. But he earnestly made the effort to be nice to people for two weeks, and it made the biggest change it him. He was actually doing very well, but before long the temper returned. Even when he did "return", however, he was nicer off than when he started. Those are my responsive thoughts to yours, Jenni.

Thank you Eric and Erin for your opinion on my thoughts about human nature. It really troubles me that there is so much evil in this world and no matter how many laws are passed or punishments handed out by the court system........the cruel and evil deeds of mankind continues with no end in sight! I would like to think that we as humans could find a remedy to this evil, sick and abusive behavior by some people. How effective would early intervention in the home, school, place of work or the community be? I wonder how many cases of violence would still continue? Can't anything be done to stop the randon acts of violence......like school and mall shootings?

Not unless you arrest a lot of people....we don't know who does these things so it's hard to stop them.... :/
Here's a thought on the lighter side for you:
If you sneeze while you're praying...does Heavenly Father say 'Bless you' ?

Oh my! lol I'm sorry! lol what if you did? then what does he say? Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This Source Gesundheit (¨Àəˈzʊnthaɪt) is the German and Yiddish word for health. When a person sneezes, German, Yiddish, and often English speakers typically say Gesundheit! to wish them good health, serving much the same purpose as "bless you" in English. The expression arrived in America with early German immigrants, such as the Pennsylvania Dutch, and doubtless passed into local English usage in areas with substantial German-speaking populations. The expression is first widely attested in American English as of 1910, about the time when large numbers of Yiddish-speaking Ashkenazi Jews immigrated to the United States.
