Hey, I'm back! I've actually been back since late Saturday, but I've been busy so I haven't really been able to write this out yet. Well, this was my first year and I went to St. Peter, MN, so here's how it was:
By the way, I write a lot when it comes to this stuff. If you like it short and sweet, skim to the bottom paragraph.
Monday came, and at first I got really pumped up. The counselors are so full of energy, it's amazing. I was a little, almost, disapointed with my company at first though. Everyone seemed so chill and not filled with energy. I met some of my other friends that night though from the stake and it turned out being an alright day.
The next day was much better. I began to get a little more outgoing, at least with our guys, and so they became a little closer to me. My roomy and I (same ward) split up and went to different classes to meet new people, and that's what we did. I met so many people that day (lots of girls :, and the classes that they had were just amazing. Then we had a dance that night where everyone was so pumped the floor was literally moving and where I met my COW. (crush of the week)
Wednesday was very much the same. Hung out with a lot of the people I at that point knew, met another ton of people, and once again, the classes were just, phenominal. (if any of you have Br. Bennione at EFY, go there. He made me tear up) I was becoming very much in sync with my group as a whole now and the scriptures began speaking to me.
Thursday. Oh baby, Thursday. There was the variety show, where with four guys in my company I was close with shouted our lungs off after every performance. But with the fireside, the musical program, and finally, the EFY Medley, I just could not help myself from balling after feeling the spirit and bearing the strongest testimony I ever had. It was beyond words.
Friday was sad. We actually, um, coned our counselor during lunch. (it was a sign of affection : But Friday for me was filled with lots of goodbyes, picture taking of course. I have some new addresses now, good friends. And at this point I was so strongly bonded with my company, especially the guys, that I remember shaking hands with one of them to say goodbye and just on the spot bursting into tears.
Then Saturday. Hugs, final goodbyes, last minute phone number exchanges, it was cool. Very emotional for me. I don't think I've ever been half as emotional as I was that week.
So, for all of you who are headed to one in the future of even going this year, EFY is no less than amazing. Put yourself in the right attitude, and it will really be the time of your life. I have actually gained an assurity at EFY that the gospel is true: the spirit is almost impossible to find as strong as it is there. By the way, I did happen to meet one person from Utah, since there are so many of you here from there. Anyone know a Desi? I'll get pictures up later if I can.
