In our stake, for whatever reason, they've decided to have a long span without dances. So, off an okay from a local stake counsellor, I've decided to hold one at our ward building.
What I'm asking for is, what kinds of things have been done that have made a dance stand out to you? What things were you like,"Oh! That's cool!"?
We've got the dress code, age group, standards, refreshments, and date (we scheduled it for May 24th, so we still have time), and now we've just got publicity to work on. The stake DJ is in our ward, so that wasn't too hard to arrange. She's a really good DJ. My friends and I also have connections with a lot of the youth in the surrounding wards, so I guess I'm expecting an at least half-decent turnout.
So, what do you think I should do from here? Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? if i were you i'd make the theme casual. and the only reason i say that is because i have 2 stake dances every month and only once in a grand while are they casual. and we deffentaly see a difference in the casual one. WAY more peopl will come if they dont have to put on a skirt and white shrt and tie. and they feel more comfertable in jeans. and also i know people love it when they can request songs. i donkow if u alreayd do this but up by the DJ their is aso a clip boar and paper and pen for us to request songs. and of course they are good songs.and.....yah. thats what i love about my stake dances. good luck.

Hey thanks Alyse! You think it should be casual? A lot of the people in our ward think differently on that part. It's like equally split: half want it to be casual, half want it to be dressy. I guess that means whichever way it goes one group of people will be happy. Thanks again.
