I'm proud to be apart of the LDS family . A majority of my family shares this feeling with me . My mom is an inactive member and has been for quite some time now and though she supports anything and everything I do it tears me up inside when I ask her to visit with the Elders and myself so receive a lesson she kind of gets offended saying she feels like a target . I try to explain to her that she isn't but for some reason she will use every excuse in the book so she doesn't have to visit with them I'm not trying to get her to become active again I would just like company during the lessons but she doesn't seem interested

Hey and welcome to MTW. My brother is inactive, he haven't been to church for some years now, so I know how you somewhat feel. There's a really good talk from General Conference April 2013, from Elder Scott's talk "For Peace at Home" My mom is an inactive member and has been for quite some time now and though she supports anything and everything I do it tears me up inside when I ask her to visit with the Elders and myself so receive a lesson she kind of gets offended saying she feels like a target . I try to explain to her that she isn't but for some reason she will use every excuse in the book so she doesn't have to visit with them I'm not trying to get her to become active again I would just like company during the lessons but she doesn't seem interested I hope that helps at all

Maybe you could talk with the missionaries ahead of time and let them know that you are trying to get your mother to accompany you to the lessons, but if she has the slightest pressure put upon her.....she will not return. So you would like them to let her observe, but not have to participate.
