I've finally received my mission call! I've been called to serve in the Hartford Connecticut, Portuguese-speaking mission and I think it's perfect for me! I'm super excited about serving the Lord! I'm also excited to be learning a new language, especially since some in my family already speak it. I will strive to have the Holy Ghost with me at all times so that I will be an example of the believer and change people's lives for the better. I hope all of you other young men will strive to go on missions so that you may be blessed...but also so we can swap awesome stories! You young women who feel inspired should also serve missions! Sister missionaries often succeed where elders have not, and vice versa. I love you all! Wish me luck! -- Erik Slack

My face looks something like this right now: Partially because *pinches Erik's cheeks* Awww! I remember back when you were just a little kid..... Just kidding. I remember back when I first joined here. You said hi to me. I think. ....I bet I could look that up. The other reason the flies are now renting space in my head is because THERES A PORTUGESE SPEAKING MISSION IN CONNETICUIT!? XD That's hilarious, how fast the church is progressing! Oh, and you should post your mailing address so we can send you letters.

That's awesome man! I don't know if you wanted state side, but if you did you get the best of both worlds (the other world being learning a new language)! My friend right next door to me is from Connecticut and from what he's told me you're going to love it man! I know how excited you are man. I got word on Saturday from my stake president that I'll get my call this week.

In order I would love: 1. Japan 2. Spain 3. Hong Kong ...which means that those are three places I won't be going. I'll be pretty content wherever I go though.

I don't know why, but whenever I think of where I want to go on my mission, a picture of the St Louis Arch appears in my head. It's kind of cool. I'm probably gonna stay in the States for medical reasons. I have to get a daily shot for my Systemic Onset Juvinille Ideopathic Arthritis. That means I get cranky and my joints swell and hurt if I don't get my medicine, basically. My immune system is too strong and attacks my joints. Silly disease killer.

Thanks you guys! It's really great that we've become friends even though we live seperate and distant lives. Technology is saweeeet! Amber: I leave December 15th. My family is going to hold an early Christmas party just for me! Heck yah!! Send me lots of letters! Jenni: Thanks Jen! You're a great example to me and everyone else. Keep me updated! JT: Thanks man. I expect you'll be doing some awesome things by the time I get home. Hope to hear from you while I'm out! Miky: You da best dude! Keep supporting your brothers and sisters on this website and any way you can. You're courageous and your heart is in the right place. Keep in touch man. Jayda: I know I was inspired to connect you to the people on this website. I think you've already helped us in a lot of ways. Keep being awesome! And definitely send me some letters. Equinox: I'll do my best! Thank you for being such a positive influence on me and the others of this message board. Keep in touch! Andrew: I think I did welcome you when you first started up. You were and still are a hilarious fellow. But no, you can't pinch my cheeks. Lol. I did a doubletake when I read the portuguese-speaking part of my call. But yah, there must be a significant population of Brazillians living in that area for the brethren to call me to it. I'll make sure you all have access to my mailing address. Write often dude! Eric: Thanks buddy! I know I'm going to love my mission. It's going to be the best mission ever! For me anyways. Maybe someone can set something up so we can write letters to each other. By the way, you're going to love Bolivia!

You've got 818 posts Lizzy, that's gotta count for something. Besides, I totally want you to write to me and I bet Eric does too! Tell me a bit about yourself and write whatever you feel prompted to. Pay extra attention to the Holy Ghost as you might have a piece of advice or an experience that could help me out with an investigator. Otherwise I hope you have as much fun writing the letters as I know I will reading them! ;D

Hey everyone! Thank you for your prayers and support for me while I was on my mission! They made a difference in the lives of everyone I met. I especially appreciated the letters that were sent by some of you and apologize for not writing back as well as I should have. It felt like there was so little time to do everything I wanted to do! My mission was originally to CT, Hartford, but while I was in the MTC it got changed to MA, Boston and then the following July the missions combined and I went to Rhode Island. How crazy is that? I loved my mission soooo much! And I consider it to be one of the greatest blessings in my life!
Since I've returned home I've gotten married to my dazzling Sweetheart, and soon we'll be moving to Provo for school, where I will study Computer Science. For work I build professional websites for everyone from major companies to horse stables to new authors or even teachers. See my website SlackSites.com and feel free to drop me a hearty hello anytime you'd like! :-)
Again thank you for your prayers and affections, I am in your debt.
Best wishes to all of you and Happy Thanksgiving!
Erik Slack
